Need a Raise

Is the difference from side to side visible, without using a tape measure or other measuring device? Does the difference affect handling or create an unsafe situation in any way? If the answer to both of these questions is "no," and if there is no easy solution, why worry about it?

springs sag over time and wings may not be identical. Fit a couple of new rear springs and shocks and it'll fee like a new car. You may find that when the cars were new, the driver's side spring had a slightly higher poundage.
This would be my answer as well. Over time, driving the car without a passenger will effect the LH spring. Assuming that your car has the original rear springs, it may be time to replace them. There is also the possibility that one or both of the rear springs were replaced at one time and there is a difference between the Phase 1 and Phase 2 BJ8 springs and that could be the root of your problem.

Cheers,

Hi
Attending a restoration show in Birmingham UK recently I was informed of a spring company that given a photograph of the rear of the car and measurements of the height difference they could re temper the springs to suit, could this be of any help if you had a similar company in your area. I am planning to do this to my Healey like to see it level even with my
missus in the passenger seat.

Hi All,

Rob, Dan, thanks for your suggestions. Exchanging the springs from side to side make no difference as measured between the frame and ground after making sure the ground was level. We are not talking about a great difference and I can easily live with the 3/16" fender opening height difference and seem to be the only one that notices it (even when questioning the observer). My next attempt will be to add a small wedge between the spring and rearend housing mount on the passenger (right) side to slightly move the wheel deeper into the fender and lower the body. My thought (per John's suggestion) would be that the Driver (left) side could also come up slightly. Again, we are talking 3/16" max change so it would not be major but would give us a method for adjusting rear body height.

Thanks again,
Ray(64BJ8P1)
