Nardi Steering Wheel - ITS HERE

I just picked up a wood Nardi steering wheel on eBay for $86 with the mounting bolts, horn ring and horn button. My fear now is that I got so caught up in the bidding that I didn't stop to make sure it will fit my TR6. Is there an adaptor needed? Will it bolt right on? Or did I just buy a really nice paper weight?

Pix of hub, wheet & suchlike, Brent?

Re: Nardi Steering Wheel / Buyers Remorse ??

There should be a hub adapter available to fit your column for that wheel, fer sure.

Re: Nardi Steering Wheel / Buyers Remorse ??

I've got an old Nardi with my TR.. Pretty sure it's been on the car since the 70's. I don't have any good pics of the hub, but let know if you'd like to see some and I'll stap a few pics.

Re: Nardi Steering Wheel / Buyers Remorse ??

That is one real sharp looking wheel! Get the adapter and you are ready to roll.

Re: Nardi Steering Wheel / Buyers Remorse ??

I almost did the same thing a few years ago. But after investigation I couldn't find an adapter for the TR. Nardi is different than the others, maybe 6 bolt hub instead of 8?
ISTR Nardi and Personal uses the same mounts.

I ended up cancelling my bid.

I hope you have better luck. I had a Nardi on my Fiat and was really a nice looking wheel.

Re: Nardi Steering Wheel / Buyers Remorse ??

You will have to get a Nardi hub adapter. I bought a Mountney wheel and the same goes, must have the adapter. I think I paid about 40-50 bucks for it. The number and spacing of the screws for the adapter are the key. Each manufacturer has thier own special spacing and number of screws. Not sure about Nardi, but some fit more than 1 brand. Worst case you'll pay a few more bucks, and or, have to get it from the UK.

Re: Nardi Steering Wheel / Buyers Remorse ??

Worst case if you did screw up is that you can sell it and break even (or better).

Others on ebay will want that wheel for sure.

Re: Nardi Steering Wheel / Buyers Remorse ??

Oops, forgot it was Italian. If you google "Nardi steering wheel hub" there are a bunch of links.

Re: Nardi Steering Wheel / Buyers Remorse ??

If you decide you don't want it, let me know. It may match my new dash and I'll buy it from you.

Re: Nardi Steering Wheel / Buyers Remorse ??

Don't forget that even if you can't find a Nardi hub you could get another hub redrilled at a local machine shop to fit the wheel.

That Nardi wheel is a thing of beauty!

Re: Nardi Steering Wheel / Buyers Remorse ??

In that condition for less than $100, you could have a hub MADE and still come out ahead, IMO!

A quick release for the steering wheel certainly would make it a bit more difficult to steal the car!
Kind of reminds me of the Mr. Bean mini, where he's always taking the steering wheel with him for security; seems to work well when combined with the padlock and hasp door security!

So the bike guys walk around with a bike seat in hand and we TR guys walk around with TR wheel in hand. Cute idea.

Hi There Brent;

All I can say is that you got yourself a "Very Sweet Deal": A Nardi wheel for $86.00 is one heck of a buy.

I`m quite certain you will need the adapter but If you can`t locate one; I would put the wheel back on ebay or someplace & sell it for $300.00: Thats what their going off at these days!

There is a sunny side to your (Maybe) problem;

LOL;

Russ
