At first when seeing the extent of the damage, I too thought $4500 was a generous settlement. But then, I thought about it. No insurance company gives money away, so there must be more to this then what we see here.
Keep in mind that in addition to the door sheet metal repair, it needs painting. If it were my car, at the minimum, I would insist the whole side of the car was repainted. My preference would be to repaint the entire car.
All that said, if it where all labor, at $60/hr that's 75 hours, a lot of time for your everyday run of the mill commuter car, but not for collectible restored TR. Remember, in the auto body business you get what you pay for. Less money, more bondo, and on and on...
No matter what, it does no one any good to question a settlement made in good faith, and anyone who questions this settlement, I certainly would not want representing me in a claim.
So when the time comes to put my car back on the road, I know what insurance company I will be talking to.
