Yes the trans is in. I normally do all my painting before anything gets installed. The weather is playing into this build. It was finally nice enough to paint today! I had about a week to start assembling the engine bay and braking system. I am one of the few that install the engine and trans seperate. Bob

Very nice. The radiator should come back out for drivetrain install. And it's easier with the bonnet off as well. But prior to windscreen going on looks as if you have enough room overhead. I'm a sucker for period luggage racks on the boot.

I never remove the hood when installing a engine. Why take a chance on chipping paint and realigning it when you can just prop it way back with a broom stick? The radiatior is just "out of the way" for now. When i was doing this for stuff for a living i would not remove the radiator from a 77 and newer mgb when doing a clutch job. Bob

I don't remove the hood either; but, I do tie it straight up in the air using a string to the rear bumper.

Bonnet struts help considerably. No need to remove the bonnet - no need for a rope or broomstick. Obviously not for those going for a Concours-style restoration. Not intended for aluminum bonnets.

While waiting for the interior kit and windshield to arrive i have been prepping for their arrival. The block, crank and head are at the machine shop.I have resized rods in stock and will assemble the engine when its ready. The new Dunlops and 72 spoke chrome wires are mounted and on the car. Grass cutting season is also here and 1.5 hours a week will be spent on the mower. More updates to follow. Bob

EDIT: As for that "grass issue"... I find if ya don't FEED or WATER th' stuff it eventually dies off and ya can claim "indigenous xerascaping" is in place. Gasoline in a sprayer can accelerate the process.
...but I'd never recommend THAT.</span>

No coating. The frames stay nice for a long time and just a touchup with Mothers polish every 6 months or so. Maybe on the coast with salt air would be a problem but not around here! I started with 100 grit and went to 320 then 600 and last was 1000 wet. bob

Its a spray on ceramic coating that my powder coater applies.The product is from techline coatings as i recall. The carpet is in and the seats are supposed to be ready this wednesday. I just keep putting off the windshield part of the project. Bob
