I initially felt a bit like Benedict Arnold when I purchased this car, but these feeling soon evaporated after driving it for a few days. I have not quit the restoration of my TR4, but it has slowed quite a bit. I have a new head being built for me for the TR and was considering going with a Moss supercharger, however after driving this Cayman S, I have changed my mind and decided to retain the Weber induction and go as planned. I love my TR4, but no matter what I do, I doubt it will ever handle as well, or be as quick as the Cayman. So for now at least, I've satisfied my hunger for power as far as the TR4 is concerned. If anything, I may change course slightly and make the TR a dedicated track car.
TPC Racing offers a turbo kit for the Cayman S which takes the horsepower from 295 to 485. Ridiculous, yes I know but I can't get the image of this car with 485 HP out of my mind. I can't believe I was complaining about the cost of a Moss supercharger.
The turbo for the Cayman runs about $10K + another $3 or $4K to have it installed. Still, I have opted not to spring for the turbo just yet. For now, I plan to flash the ECU and make a few other mods that will bring it's horsepower up to about 330.
I moved to Dallas on New Years Eve and so far I really like it here. An added benefit to this area over the New Orleans area are the number of nearby race tracks...not to mention the seemingly never ending supply of beautiful girls! Definitely a plus!
