My new ride [not a Triumph]

I initially felt a bit like Benedict Arnold when I purchased this car, but these feeling soon evaporated after driving it for a few days. I have not quit the restoration of my TR4, but it has slowed quite a bit. I have a new head being built for me for the TR and was considering going with a Moss supercharger, however after driving this Cayman S, I have changed my mind and decided to retain the Weber induction and go as planned. I love my TR4, but no matter what I do, I doubt it will ever handle as well, or be as quick as the Cayman. So for now at least, I've satisfied my hunger for power as far as the TR4 is concerned. If anything, I may change course slightly and make the TR a dedicated track car.

TPC Racing offers a turbo kit for the Cayman S which takes the horsepower from 295 to 485. Ridiculous, yes I know but I can't get the image of this car with 485 HP out of my mind. I can't believe I was complaining about the cost of a Moss supercharger.
The turbo for the Cayman runs about $10K + another $3 or $4K to have it installed. Still, I have opted not to spring for the turbo just yet. For now, I plan to flash the ECU and make a few other mods that will bring it's horsepower up to about 330.

I moved to Dallas on New Years Eve and so far I really like it here. An added benefit to this area over the New Orleans area are the number of nearby race tracks...not to mention the seemingly never ending supply of beautiful girls! Definitely a plus!

Of anything in the current Porsche lineup, this is the only model I'd seriously be interested in. Very nice! Congrats!

Tab, that is so sweet.
I told my daughter that the perfect set up is one of those and a Boxster.

Whoa!Yea!

Wow - NICE! My cousin got a Boxster Spyder last summer but unfortunately he lives 1400 miles away  . I did a similar thing myself about a year ago. Initially I did feel a bit guilty but that quickly went away as I adapted to 333 horsepower under my foot. I actually find I'm more inclined to undertake projects on the 6 now since I have something to entertain me when it's down for work. But on a nice sunny spring or fall day you still can't beat the TR. At least I stayed with a normally aspirated, inline 6 <grin>...

Enjoy Dallas. If you wander up I-35 towards Wichita give me a buzz no matter which car you're in (or if you go to Hallett speedway west of Tulsa the ///M and I might have to join you (until you put the turbo in anyway!))

Tracks, maybe. But don't know if Dallas ladies ever had a song written about them!

LeRoux - are they still around? What a great group!

Easy, one-word solution for ya, Tab: Monastery.

That is one very sweet ride. Porsche has made the transition to the modern day car profile without completely losing it's flagship identity.

need that jealous smiley again.

hit the turbo once for me willya?

Well I don't feel as much of a traitor, but at least I stayed British.

The Cayman S is a nice package. I thought they were 320 bhp not 295, BTW.

I looked at them as well as at the BMW Z4 M coupe before I bought my Solstice GXP coupe - all the same sort of car. Turned out that the Solstice offered better performance than either with a couple of mild mods, mostly tuning, at a price around half of the German options.

With compression of more than 12:1 they can only use low pressure ,5psi) boost on that engine and it is amazing that they get results like that! 485 bhp from 3.4 litres is pretty good (my Solstice is currently making 350 BHP from 2 litres on 25 psi and they can also hit around 475 with a larger turbo).

Are you going to turbo it? I wonder if that engine has spray cooling inside the pistons like the Ecotec?

Like the colour. Of course you will be wearing out dust cloths at a great rate!
