Any one install the Moss headlight relay kit in a Healey? The instructions look straight forward. Where did you mount the relays? Does the wiring just plug into the existing bullet connectors on the stock wiring harness?

looks like a nice setup. i am expecting the relay kit and a set of halogens today. i wanted the triangular light????? but moss advised that they did not illuminate as well. the h4s should light well i would think! my car is a v8 conversion so mounting location is not as important as in a stock engine compartment..

i did not mean to infer less than tidy...just that location might not be as important as in the case of a very stock big healey. my car is very neat and very stock appearing where possible. i do have nonstock gauges but they are in the original dash openings with no extra pods or holes cut to accomodate the necessary information. gps speedometer is a dual gauge to accomodate the gas gauge.
rob, have you started on the install? i got my halogens and relay kit yesterday. probably will install over the holidays. wiring kit looks well thought out....hope so!

On the Bj8 and maybe others, there is a large bay behind the radio (of those of us who have them) on the cockpit side of the firewall. In it I installed 3 relays and an auxiliary fuse box. Well hidden. I mounted everything on a removable panel to make changing fuses easy. The panel is held in place on an existing bolt from the engine side.

I am hoping to install the relays in a location where I don't have to run the new wiring to far. I just installed a new wiring harness and would rather not have a lot of loose wires running around inside the engine compartment that I have to zip-tie to the outside on the harness.

Here's my electrical under the dash by the glovebox on my BJ8. Two relays for the AC and radiator fan and two for the headlights, etc,(not yet hooked up).
Just a quick observation. Those relays don't appear to be waterproof. If their wiring will reach into the interior, that's probably the best place to mount. If not, try to keep them away from water. Some recommend the liberal use of dielectric grease in the contact areas as well as sealing around the wire ends and joint between the relay and connector with liquid electrical tape. Might be good to pick up a pair of spare relays in case your lights go out at an inopportune moment.
Another quick observation

I have experienced more liquids in the cockpit area than in the engine compartment.
Sources.
Brake fluid from the master cylnder
Water from a failed Heater / heater hose.
Water entry due to a failed windscreen wiper mount seal or wind screen to scuttle seal
Various locations around the hood in rain
Additionally, existing Lucas Relays functioning OK in the engine compartment now are not water proof.
Easy accessibility to the new circuitry would be desireable too
