Missing hood prop problem.

We are missing the hood prop (which, of course, it looks like we may definitely need). We have a new prop to install (the expanding-sliding rod type from Victoria parts), there is a bolt on undersurface of the hood, but no apparent mounting site on the engine fender. Is there another mounting piece we are missing? I owned a 1979 mg midget 'cheetah' 20+years ago, but I cant remember how the hood prop was installed.

Shouold be a small bracket on edge of fender....now, what's a Midget 'chetah'?

Tony,
Of course, our midget is missing the bracket on the fender. So, we'll figure something out. My first midget was the 'Cheetah', which I bought new in 1979. It was white /c black interior and had a red/black dual stripe along the lower portion of sides which terminated in the word 'Cheetah', with a sillouette of a cheetah running. My then husband promptly sold the car after we married in 1981 to a man in St. Petersburg, and that is the last time I've ever seen a midget with that type paint/stripe detail.

No such animal! All that 'cheetah' stuff was jusr dealer installed items so he could get rid of his lingering stock as the company went belly up! Most dealers dolled up their last few cars & called them something to get rid of their stock!

Isn't "Cheetah" the way they pronounce "Cheater" down there?

Only around Savannah or N'Awlins!

Okay, okay, so maybe I fell for the dealer gimmick. At any rate, it was a great looking car (dealer striping and all), and, as I said I havent seen one with quite the same panache since. By the way, we don't all have such a southern drawl. Do you think the mounting foot for the bugeye would work to install the hood support on the midget?

On some cars, they're pop riveted, on others, bolted...I've several Midget parts cars...email me off-bbs

Bev, that was just the Dam' Yankee coming out in me! When I was in the Air Force, and stationed in middle Georgia, everyone up here thought I had a southern accent. Of course, I probably did, for survival purposes, if nothing else.
