Midget Seat back foam replacement

First of all, happy New Year to you all!
I finally got some time to work on the wife's '78Midget again with parts I bought this summer. I was recently and unfortunately laid off from my job due to the economy, so I have the time--double edged sword...! Anyway, I am replacing just the seat foam on both seats using VB replacement foam. I did the bottoms, easy enough although the diaphragms..uhhhggg!
With the bottoms, I took the old diaphragms off and just pulled the old foam cushion out and replaced them both.
Now I am looking at the seat backs, they look a little more complicated, and decided to ask here before jumping in.
I'm wondering what is the best way to do them? Do I need to take the seat back adjusting lever off, then I see two clips on each seat "side" at the bottom, remove them as well, and the cover slips (hah!)off?
Is there more to it, and if so, what else do I need to do? Any special tools required, or things to watch out for?
For putting the cover back on I've read here the recommendation to use plastic bags to help the cover slide on, which I plan to do.
Thanks, and again, happy New Year!

Wait - you got the headrests off??? How?

Rick - if they are like the MGB seats you just have to really yank them hard. Mouth guard and good dental insurance are suggested.

This could be bad info since I've never don't this on a Midget, so I'd get confirming info before trying it.

From a position behind the seat, plant feet well and YANK. Do pay attention to td's mouth guard and dental insurance suggestion first, tho.

Head rests came off no problem...any info on removing the seat covers themself?

Damon - there are lots of little clips that need to be removed. Start with the seat bottoms and then work your way up from there. Taking a pliers, gripping the top and bottoms of the clips and pulling them off usually works well.

Make sense?

Oh, and save the clips! Now is also a good time to fit a near seat bottom diaphragm as well, makes a nice difference in seat comfort.

I recently swapped my '67 Sprite drivers seatback foam with one from my '70MGB parts car. Very close to the same shape. I had to do a little trimming on the bottom. The foam has a bit more bolster on each side. But the cover fit fine and it turned out real nice for CHEAP!
