Midget missing VIN tag....what to do???

Re: Midget VIN decoding

[ QUOTE ]
Also by the Pasanger side bonnet hinge. on the flat piece of sheet metal just above the hole for the right hand drive brake-clutch cut out. the body # should be stamped there. This should match the tag on the door frames.

Ok. I have a fuse box there which might be a replacement. How far above the cut out plate would it be? You see I have some sort of rubberized black paint coating the whole engine bay. I'd have to start taking a wire wheel to the area. I'd like to know where to start.

Are the numbers running verticle or horizontal?

Re: Midget VIN decoding

Horizontal about 2 to 3 inches above the cut out. There just stamped in the tin very lightly on the 2 that I had

There right on the# on the shock mount. It is not on bugeyes.Just went back and saw yours is a 65. There should be a stamp right behind the shock, on the flat plate were it boltsdown to the frame behind if you are standing in front of the car. This should match the vin #

Email me here beedle@verizon.net I my have a cure for you..

Re: Midget VIN decoding

Found the number stamped on the pass side shock mounting plate

It was stamped as GAN458084 so I guess that would be:

GAN-4-58084 Clearly a 67 MG Midget. Engine plate seems to be the original engine as well as it's a 12CC coded engine.

Re: Midget VIN decoding

Glad you found the numbers. Hope you can get a registration /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

Re: Midget VIN decoding

It's not a question of if it's a question of how much money. From what I understand about $100-$200.

Re: Midget VIN decoding

I have almost $200 in mine. In Pa its a one time thing. No yearly registration cost. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif
