T-Series MGTC Front Crankshaft Oil Seal

Bought a modern lip type oil seal(MOSS part # 120-750) for the TC to relpace the oil original leak prone one. This is the front crankshaft seal. I need to know which way the seal goes, does the side with the spring tensioner inside go towards the block or towards the timing cover?

Thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grouphug.gif

The side with the spring tensioner or cupped side, usually faces in toward the oil. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif PJ

Thanks...I would have put it on wrong :S

Look at rubber seals this way. Pressure inside forces the cup of the rubber against the outer wall. The more pressure the more force against the wall and the better the seal is.

Now don't get after me guys. But this is how to consider which way a seal goes.

Thanks Jack...I am printing that off and I am gunna keep it by my workbench...So I don't forget....Makes good sense now that I think about it.
