so you can spray the cars behind you with your drool flapping in the wind?

I'd take a AH or a MG 6 - /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And just why would anyone want a AH 100-6 or the popular 3000 when they could have a 100/4. Drool, windshield down of course.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif vping was tempted by the 'C', which I equated with a 6 cylinder. Any AH fan might prefer a 100-4, with the windshield back, of course. My signature reveals my own sentiments, I’m fortunate enough to have a 3000, and I’m looking for a BN-2, which is our little slang for a certain 100-4.

As a former multiple ‘B’ owner, I was always intrigued by the ‘C’ and awed by the, never seen by me, but much talked about V8.

what BN # is a 100-M?

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif 100-M's were factory modified BN2s, as I understand it.

The same modifications that made a 100-4 into a 100-M were available for installation by the dealer (and depending on who you believe, available to customers) and were designated as 100 Le Mans. The modification parts are still mostly available today and hence my desire to 'create' a 100 Le Mans from a BN-2.

Not many factory 100-M’s were produced, but they are considered the authentic 100-M’s.

It's a pretty interesting history and certainly worth a Google search. If you hop over to the Austin Healey portion of the BCF you can look around and seem some really fine examples of the 100's. Look for louvered hoods and leather straps to start with. Some folks just add these parts, but the authentic 100-M’s definitely had them.

And, if you like that, do a search for the 100-S, the ultimate 100. Only about 50 were ever produced.

You’d be pleasantly surprised how well these 100’s did and who raced them. I’ve personally seen modified Healey’s giving authentic Cobra’s a run for their money at Watkins Glen. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Been there (lurking and posting occationally) for the past 6 months. AH 100's are the prettiests of the breed. If'n I ever come across one for sale and have the dough, it's gonna be mine!

Lets see.

My fist picture added. Thanks Kenny.

If I could ever figure out how to post a picture of my CGT..I would. Not very computer literate.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif You're in good company, there's been a few on ebay the past couple months, plan on spending $20-$30k for one in pretty good shape, maybe more with Barrett Jackson fever spreading. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif Although, the auction crowd hasn't much noticed the 100's yet, hope it stays that way. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Several years ago, I sold my 100-4 that had been sitting for quite some time & needed complete restoration (to include repairing frame rust) to a doctor in New York for over $5,000!

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif Well, Kenny, ain't you in luck: /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

web page Good luck on your bidding!

Racing a 100 is like being on a runaway train. Darned things really haul on the straights (they ought to, with a bloody great lorry engine in there)but they aren't as good at stopping.....

Gotta go with the disc brakes! They stay pretty flat in the corners as well.

Nice car dar100, but way outta my current financial ballpark /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Actually, although I've been there and done that, you'd be bucks ahead and save much frustration if you went to the bank, got a loan, and bought a car someone else had just gone broke restoring. Believe me, you'd pay less in the end and you'd be driving months (or years) sooner!

this may be true... but then you'd have to problem of, "did the builder do it to be reliable?"

Yeah, and trust me... making payments on a non-running car is a psycological battle at best.

I think there are pros and cons. I paid a premium (including taking a loan) for an original car with relatively low miles, but I wouldn't do that for someone’s rebuild. I could drive the car right away and enjoy it without any down time.

I’d be more likely to consider taking a loan for a professional restoration. The 100 M, or the 100 LeMans, is kind of a specialty, so I’d pay a real premium, and I really don’t want to do that. So maybe, when the first loan is paid, I’ll look for a quality 100 and then undertake the modifications to the ‘LeMans’ spec.

Since this is still the C-GT thread, I’d like to say, I drove a ‘B’ or a ‘B-GT’ all through high school, I always wanted a ‘C’ and was fascinated by them, but never actually saw one. I still haven’t seen one, only photos, so I’m not sure if they really exist or not! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif I would ALMOST just as quickly buy one, either a roadster, or a GT, as I would a 100-4. I think all things considered, it will be the next acquisition after the 100, unless, of course, I actually see one and it’s for sale.
