Prudent in your environment to do the back of the dash that way. I should have taken the time to do ours here but just hit it with a coat of black spray-bomb with only scuffing it.

I didn't identify the Seagull in your first batch of pix, the idea of one didn't cross my mind. A fella locally has one, non-running, stood behind the counter of his auto parts store.

Don't hesitate to post more questions/pictures/info on your project, we're all here to learn and to help if possible.

Have to love those old Seagulls - I have 3 - one has a bad crack in the cylinder block but even that didn't stop it from pulling like a diesel. Don't think I'd trade them for a "modern" motor ever. I have one of the "newer" ones that has the smaller 4 blade prop, reverse and the 25 to 1 fuel mix. The older one with the big 5 blade prop pulls harder though - smokes like crazy on the 10 to 1 fuel mix but never lets me down.

I have been thinking about external led bulb replacement, the interior bulbs I replaced are from Amazon and are certainly much brighter only did tachometer, fuel gauge, temp gauge and speedo Should I go all the way and if so what should I be looking
for ?

My Seagull is what they call the 40 plus about 2 hp and use the 10 to 1mix and runs like a dream. This is the boat it belongs to which is being repainted at the moment for next summer for the grand kids they all love boating and to have their own boat .
Between fixing up the MGB and organising this boat and trying to find time to get out in my ( the ramp is about 40 metres down the road ) plus looking after grandkids in Melbourne not much time left in a day.

Thats a pretty boat. I have the Silver Century 5-ish HP ones that I use to push a 20 foot cabin sailboat - won't win any speed contests but it will (and has) pulled a larger/heavier sailboat off a sandbar in thy bay. Like driving in 1st gear.....

Saw this too late on the thermo sender but another time if you have access to a line wrench in that size (they are split so they go over a tube and are used for tightening rake fittings etc.) you can put it on the fitting, pull it a bit to put a little pressure on the collar and then either tap gently or use a big screwdriver to exert some pressure counter to the pull on the end of the wrench. Between the two they will usually pop it free.

Thanks for the response but I removed thermostat housing and was able with a piece of wood push it out.
