Have to replace the exhaust system on 76B that was converted to dual carb (SU) set up. The old exhaust is a Monza systerm. When ordering from Moss should I get the system for a 76 or 74 and earlier? Is the only difference the hanger?

If you are going to keep the dual carb set-up you need to order the earlier system from Moss. In making the conversion to dual carbs, the exhaust manifold was also replaced for an earlier version. There are two down pipes in the earlier version vs. one down pipe in the single carb version.

Yep, what he said.

Before you order a Monza, check for a Bosal. I've installed a Bosal 15 years ago on my '75 MGB and it's like AS I'VE DOE IT LAST MONTH. Bosals are guaranteed as long as it is installed on the car and the sound is genuine MGB. However I strongly recommend, whichever brand you select that you have a flexible insert installed between the manifold and the catalytic converter. This will prenent excessive and frequent loosening of the exhaust to manifold conection and visits to the muffler shop , tickets for «driving straight pipe» and exhaust infiltration inside the cockpit.

Have your own built - if you have the old manifold & down pipe, go to your local muffler shop & have them match the diameter of the outlet of your down pipe with aluminized pipe...put an 18" or 24" cherry bomb under the driver seat & a 14"-er at the rear....then pich out a nice stainless tip to set it all off....same as all the expensive exhausts but much less expensive!

what Tony said, a good muffler guy is a friend to be cherished
