Bummer, though I supposed not all that unexpected. And isn't "spend more money" always the next step? :grin:
 
Probably a complete build. Whenever you get into one there is no stopping point. I could probably remove the engine and have the crank turned and install new bearings and check the oil pump clearance and resize the rods. But while I am in there..........Maybe today will be a good day to pull the engine out. Looks like it will not see the NAMGAR event next week. Bob
 
P'raps an oil change to a straight weight with a quart of that Lucas "rebuild in a bottle" would be in order, to get you thru NAMGAR?
 
Well its back up and running. I thought what have I got to loose. I pulled the pan and had a look inside. I changed the center main bearing and all the rod bearings. Its a .010/.010 crankshaft. Big item was the oil pump being out of spec. One measurement was supposed to be not over .010. I got .014. The new pump was .003! I have just completed the task. No test drive yet. Maybe later tonight if the rain holds off. Maybe I will make the NAMGAR event with the little yellow beast! If it does not work I will be able to run it around local and pull another core 1800 3 main from under the bench and build it. Bob
