MG2009 - Breckenridge, CO

Offline
Jean and I will be leaving for Breckenridge, CO for MG2009 in the 1969 MGC at about 0500 Monday.

The car is ready (just a few bags to be thrown in) as it just returned from a great week in North Carolina for the British V8 meet.

I did take the hardtop off of it (first time since 2003) and put the soft top on (it has a zip out rear window, AKA "air conditioning"!)

We're taking the Kansas route out, visiting the Eisenhower Museum tomorrow and overnighting in Hays, KS. Then Tuesday we will drive to Colorado Springs and up to Breckenridge.

Looks as though we'll be missing a lot of rain...but the temperatures are to be in the upper 90's through Illinois, Missouri, and Kansas. :frown:

We'll be returning home on Sunday, taking the more northern, Nebraska route. It's about an hour shorter than the Kansas route (and I've not seen Nebraska yet).

The car ***should*** run like a top (but I've learned over the years to expect the unexpected).

I'll stop by here periodically.

It's a great meet with over 250 MGs as of today. Good driving tours, good tech sessions, good friends....

We made a short drive to Hoosier Pass today....

Rick, what a difference a couple of weeks can make, from the low lands of NC to the mountains of Colorado. I would have thought Hoosier Pass would have been in Indiana though!

Bill...note the absence of the haardtop. It was like having air condition durong our drive through Kansas on Monday...we'll be returning to Illinois on Sunday via Nebraska.

Hope you had fun in our thin air.

We had a blast!

However...it did take me longer to become acclimated this trip...I've skiied Colorado for years...albeit I only weighed #150 and played raquetball three times weekly, so I was in better shape then.

I do look forward to NOT having a bloody nose tomorrow morning from the lack of humidity.

One key to surviving the altitude is to drink LOTS of water. You dehydrate at atlutude much quicker. Especially if you are from a humid climate, it hits you much harder.

We drank a TON of water, believe me....and ran the humidifier in the hotel room.
