So you want one from Longbridge? I believe in a wait and see aproach. It may turn out to be like the delorean debacle in the UK, My worry is that the cars won't be safe at all. If the major backing and ownership is actually in China, they just don't seem to place the same value on human life and safety as the westen world. They have the name but I don't think it will be the same without a racing background.

Oh... FYI... the Chinese owners have declared that MG now stands for "Modern Gentleman." Once more I must say /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

Ps. Naw... I really don't want one from Longbridge either, but at least Longbridge lies within the borders of the empire.

That article is over a year old and I thought they had scrapped the idea of building a plant in OK.

Yep, the Oklahoma idea is dead! As is, IMHO, the Chinese idea!

Apparently the Modern Gentleman tag will only really be used in China, which given their recent economic growth has to be the aim for the majority of sales.
A friend of mine works for Denso and travels to various factories around the country. He went to Longbridge the other day and said it was a ghost town. They've stripped it of anything worthwhile, so if cars are going to be built there the whole factory will need refurbing.
As for the cars being made in OK, I think pretty much everyone still considers MG to be a British marque, and the thought of production being outsourced to the colonies...
