MG 2006 - Gatlinburg, TN - June 21-25

Im also going, but will only make a quick appearance. Fri, and Sat only. I will be staying at my sisters place in Black Mt, NC and will come over with my father to hopefully find a truckful of parts to bring home to my 73B.
Ahh yes, will hit one of the parties Im sure.
Maybe I'll see alot of you there.

Newkie

P.S. This time, I will have my Cubs cap on, so look for me there.

Ya right Newkie! I looked all over Grand Rapids for that Cubs hat. YOU look for me this time!

We'll I finally made my reservation! Now I just need to finish the B!

Where is the 2007 event? Right now I will have to live the 2006 through you guys and gals. I can't afford to take time off to get to TN.

LL,

There won't be a 2007 event - the next one will be in 2011. These are "once every five years" events.

I THINK 2007 is either PA or CA, I have a list somewhere...

I thought I saw an event being planned for 2006 or 2007 on the West Coast? Am I wrong (oh, help me if I am). I could make one of those!!

There will be MGB events in 2007, but not this one. This is the "all register" event in which the five major MG registers get together for a mega meet. It only happens once every five years.

BTW, the five MG registers putting on this event are:

North American MG A Register
North American MG B Register
American MG C Register
North American MMM Register
New England MG T Register

Traditionally, announcements for the next years MG event sponsored by NAMGBR come during the banquet at this year’s event. We don’t want to get the cart ahead of the horse by promoting one event before the other takes place. The plans for MG 2007 are currently in the works and the event will take place in Northern California.

I know I'm going to the V8 show - will have to see about 2006....V8 show is always the same time slot....wonder why they decided to do 2006 when they did? Animosity?

Tony,

Convenience
The site for the V8 event was selected to be close to Gatlinburg and MG 2006 so enthusiasts could go to both events. I will be attending both as well. In the past, the V8 event has been held in August in conjunction with other MG events as well.

Dan Masters has hosted this event in Townsend before was gracious enough to offer to host again this year. For those that are interested the web site for the V8 Meet is:

Oh, sorry....I've been to Townsend before & thought it was same time...as teenagers say: my bad!

Poly bushings for a MGC

Anyone have recommendations on a vendor of front suspension poly bushings for an MGC?

Re: Poly bushings for a MGC

Perhaps a bit of clarification is in order. The event being held in Gatlinburg this year will not happen again until 2011. The first one was held in Indianapolis in 1996, the second was held in St. Paul in 2001. The site for 2011 has not been determined yet. There will be many MG related events in 2007, including the major meet sponsored by NAMGBR in Northern California, but none of them will be the "all register" meet being held in Gatlinburg. This is the only event sponsored by the five MG registers - the MGA, MGB, MGC, MGT, and the Midget, Magna, and Magnette registers. There should be over 1000 MGs in attendance, of the various models, making this an event not to miss! It won't be matched again until 2011.

Tony,

The date for MG 2006 was set first. When I saw that it was going to be held from Thursday to Sunday, I picked the preceding Sunday to Wednesday for the British V8 meet so folks could attend both events while spending only one week of precious vacation time and making only one long drive to attend both. There is less than an hour's drive between the two events, and that hour is spent on an incredibly nice driving road along the river through the Smokies, so the hour's drive is part of the experience and something to look forward to. Arrive on Sunday, June 18, and leave on Sunday, June 24, and have a fantastic time in between. As always, there will be a few folks at MG 2006 that hold animosity towards us V8 boys, but they will be very much in the minority. There is absolutely no animosity between the sponors/coordinators of the two events. I'll be at both events, and I'm looking forward to a great time.

Re: Poly bushings for a MGC

I learned something new today, Dan...thanks...I know I will be at V8 & am going to try to be at 2006....so, its either bring a V8 to your show or an original to theirs? & I've been working on my V8 for way too long - of course I've been building the Glacier White GT as long....dilema??

Re: Poly bushings for a MGC

Clvr, you may want to re-post your question regarding the bushings under its' own heading in the MG Forum. This particular thread is about the big MG meet in Gatlinburg.
Welcome aboard, by the way.
Jeff

Re: Poly bushings for a MGC

Tony,

You can bring an original to the V8 meet, or a V8 to the MG 2006 meet - either way will work. All that's required for the V8 meet is an interest in giving your British car more power - V8, V6, supercharger, turbo, or just a hop-up. Many folks come to learn how to do it long before their own car is completed (me included). All that's required for MG 2006 is an interest in an MG of some sort.

I've been to many V8 meets in a stocker, and I've been to a few MG meets in a civilian car. All that's required is an interest.

Re: Poly bushings for a MGC

I know, Dan...I bought my original '79 Vermillion Red B to the last V8 show I attended....think the folks at 2006 will belittle our V8's? I don't mean the folks putting the show on, I mean the attendees?

Re: Poly bushings for a MGC

Tony,
One car will fit all events.
My wife and I are taking our MGB/GT V8 to both shows.
There is a catagory for V8's and other conversions at MG 2006 and a number of people that will be bringing their V8 to Gatlinburg. If fact you will get a lot of attention from the MG crowd with a V8
