Hi, Eric, and welcome to the Forum!

Looks like you got the image posted - nice B!

Look forward to hearing from you here, and to seeing you in Gatlinburg.

Update on MG2006.

Robert Rushing (editor The Driver) reported last night that of the 1300 rooms blocked for the event, 600 are reserved. 6 months prior to the event. And over 600 cars registered.

Those pics could have been taken from my front porch. I am backed up to the Parkway near Blowing Rock, NC and the scenery never ceases to astound me. I am a little Leary of making reservations in Gatlinberg as I am pretty close, within a couple of hours drive, but more than that I have experienced the traffic over there "in season" and even driving my 4WD Silverado I felt vulnerable. That is not to say we all won't have a great time, but for those of you who have never been to the area please be prepared to watch your temp gauges and play close attention to your clutch.
 Is it permissible to drive a raggedy old roadster over and park it amongst all of those pristine rides? I promise to take a bath and wear shoes if you will let me come? Jack

As an alternative to the Dragon for those who might be on the north side of the Gatlinburg area and want to do some real mountain driving I have a private course laid out through parts of Watauga and Avery counties that just might fit your bill. It is relatively low speed, I don't think that there are more than a couple of miles that will call for more than 60 or 65 miles and hour, and the rest is just the type of two lane blacktop that Bs were made for. Moderate grades up and down with lots of twisties and beautiful scenery. Not too many precipitous drop offs so your passenger won't be clutching your right arm all the time. A few decent watering holes along the way and lots of charm in Blowing Rock itself. Anyone interested for the time around the meet or any other time for that matter please let me know and I'll email directions. Jack

So have "your man" bring the B up in a cargo trailer and you fly into Knoxville. Roll it out of the box as a Queen and slip on over to the meet. Return home in reverse order. LOL  Jack

Re: MG 2006

Start with the bar bells and Bowflex now Janel. Dabee don't have no power steering or slush box! Jack

Re: MG 2006

I plan on attending. Looking forward to it!

Looks like a tight bit of road. Semi's would probably be banned from using it over here!

Exit Gatlinburg into the park and turn right at the ranger station onto Little RIver Road towards Cades Cove (prettier than the Dragon - and almost as twisty in spots). Follow it until you get to the turnoff to Townsend.

[/ QUOTE ]Has anyone else noticed/mentioned that Townsend is also the location of the British V-8 meet the week prior to MG 2006? Let's see--if I go to both events and drive round-trip from Colorado, I need to take 3 weeks of vacation. Nope, need to save that for my trip to New Zealand next fall, so I guess I won't be coming. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nopity.gif Sounds like fun, though!

Not the week before, it's actually at the beginning of the same week as MG 2006. The V8 event starts on Sunday, June 18, and ends on Wednesday, June 21. MG 2006 begins on Thursday, June 21, and ends on Sunday, June 25.

One week will get you both events.

Re: MG 2006

It's going to be a great time for sure. I'm very anxious, the hubby hates the thought /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Naomi from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Owner of a 64 MGB, a an 80 MGB. Both repaired 4000 times but still loved. Also now a 79 MGB repaired once and instant love /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hopefully the B will be done for the Gatlinburg event. We have made reservations at the KOA in Pigeon Forge and that says we have high hopes that it will be finished. If you stop by the campground, check out the red 72s. Hopefully one of them will be ours and we can meet. We'll bring the B on a trailer.Paul /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Read your article and went to the web site. Sounds great and we hope to be at the 2006 event at Gatlinburg. I would love to drive the Dragons Tail! Don't know if the wife could take it in the right seat though. Made reservations at the KOA in Pigeon Forge in hopes that our "B", a red 72, which is being restored, will be done for the event.
