It gives me hope that one day I'll be reunited with my Selmer Mark VI tenor sax that was stolen in 2005. Even though I was very well insured, it still stings to think about it, as my father bought me that horn.
The silver lining was that without the theft, I would not have discovered the world of vintage Buescher saxophones. I played a '45 "Big B" Aristocrat for many years after the theft. Then on a trip to New York to visit my nephew, I purchased a '35 Series 1 Aristocrat to be my backup horn. Well, it turned out the '35 was a better sounding horn than the '45, so it became my primary with the '45 as a backup. Also have an '18 True Tone tenor in the mix, and it's competing with the '45 for the 2nd position.
