Sorry, but I have to chime in with a safety moment on that last one, Russ-
In my opinion, I would never use ether for leak detection. Never. No. No. No. WAY TOO FLAMMABLE.
I have used carb cleaner, though, but I think even with that you need to be careful.
Just my 2 cents.
