Well:
Jest being through ole Matey--

Derek, if you have a look at the Holden site, under electrical, bullet connectors and tools, crimping tool for bullets you will find a helpful video of the different approaches. ....

The crimping tool can be bought much cheaper on line though. I looked at this and decided that proper crimps on bullets was the way to go with the new harness.
I'll second the endorsement of Holden's products! I bought their box/assortment of bullets and connectors when I was putting my own car back together, and have since relied on it for work on other people's Healeys too.

Here's a sampling under the category of bullet connectors:
https://www.holden.co.uk/displayPro...&agCode=0474&agName=Bullet+Connectors+&+Tools

Their assortment box contains mostly bullets like the solid brass one shown as the 3rd item in the top row (different internal diameter to suit different gauge wires) suitable for a dab of solder with a relatively fast heating time. The "tinned" ones are for crimping, but I prefer the solid billet-bullets!

If you're going to be doing a lot of connections, the pliers at the far right work a lot better than needle-nosed ones to seat the bullets in their sleeves. Next to them on the left, is one my pair of Paladin strippers; having built electrical control panels for several decades, these are by far the best automatic strippers I'd come across__they'll even strip four (4) 16-gauge wires at once! Seems the price has about doubled since that last time I purchased a pair though ('98 maybe?).

Yeah well, be careful of what you ask for ;)

Honestly this is why I love this forum. I have so much to learn.
The same applies!

Not only will you get, at the very least, an answer to your questions, you'll get ALL OUR varied preferences too. The hardest decision could well be to figure out whose method best suits your application!

Does anyone have a good source for the good brass Lucas solder on wire bullets (other than the usual places)
I just got some from one of the major suppliers and they are $&@?!#% and that's being polite about them . Just a piece of sheet brass pressed into a bullet shape that would require 2oz of solder to fill the void between the wire and the part . Total junk !!!!
I want the brass ones drilled with the small hole that just requires a minute amount of solder to secure them . :eagerness::eagerness:

If you type into Ebay search '4.7mm Lucas style brass bullet male' I think you will find this is what you are looking for they are ÂŁ4.55 for 50

EN They got the little hole in em TOO!!-------:applause:

I think that makes sense Bob.:encouragement:
However, everyone in North America should probably use USA E Bay given the money exchange rates in effect today.

Hi Guys

On this side of the pond I use VEHICLE WIRING PRODUCTS based in Ilkeston Derbyshire for all/most of my car electrics - www.vehicleproducts.co.uk or E-mail - sales@vehicleproducts.co.uk
I use the crimped version of the bullets but use solder - makes a good professional looking connection. :encouragement:

Bob
Good selection of some oddball stuff, thanks for posting the link (really like that hexagonal bullet crimper...)!

Especially given the high shipping charges from the UK.

BTW - except for the non-Lucas bullets Charlie Hart uses, the ones from British Wiring are best price.
