TR6 Lucas Starter 2M100 - Extra Part?

I’m refurbishing a 2M100 starter.

While disassembling it, I found this “spare part”. It looks like a contact, but doesn’t seem to be.

Doesn’t seem to fit as a “cap / retainer” on the top of the solenoid linkage to Bendix throw-in lever.



Suggestions?

From the wear marks, it looks like it was riding on the commutator…. I’m sure it’s not supposed to be there…. It doesn’t have the correct dimensions to fit in the cap holding the brushes…

And look about halfway down the page. You'll see that piece is a spring retainer for the solenoid actuator.
