Lucas 1748 horns

Other than the brass tags at the mounting holes, there don't seem to be date stampings.
That said, there were some small differences between early and later horns. The original early ones I removed from my '54 100 had a nut and stud that held on the wire grommet retainer plate. Later horns seem to have had a small hex head bolt used there.
Some of the body castings may different as well.

The Lucas 1748 Horns off my 1951 XK120 have Date Stamps of 1) 5X53 and 2) 1059. Both off the same car, a May 3, 1951 build from Australia. Anyone have any ideas?
Are these correct for my car? And they were mounted near the center, under the Grille.
I have been told my 1951 XK120 should have Round Trumpet, Windtone Horns, mounted on either side, in the Front Wheel Well! Even Viart’s XK120 Explored says so…
I have an idea of what I’m going to do, nevertheless it’s confusing to say the least!!!

Karl, here is some interesting reading regarding the use of the Windtone and the HF1748 on the XK120
