Not knowing my Mini anatomy as well as I should, I will venture a guess that you may have front springs in the rear? They would be stronger to carry the weight of the engine, making the rear ride high (which is how it looks to me)?
I assume you are referring to the Mini Sky.
Yeah, it does look a bit low. They went back to the rubber suspension in later years so it's likely someone either put in some lowering blocks, or adjusted the existing ones way down. I think there may be a ride-height adjustment on them. This page has several available and they're really not too expensive.
