TR2/3/3A "Louvres" on a TR3 bonnet.

Sorry, been away for a few days. After posting this I received the latest Vic Brit catalogue (or maybe it was TRF?) and a drawing of a louvered hood is shown and states TR2 through TS4000 approximately. It might be difficult to find, but I am sure that there are a few out there still. I guess it was an early TR production item after all. Whether it remained a factory option past that point, I don't know for certain.
Anyway, the diagram at least would show the approximate location of the factory louvers and the part might actually be available through Victoria British or TRF. I forgot to check that detail and the catalogue is in the garage, buried by now I'm sure.

JFS, was there a Triumph in your attachment?
bmurphy7369, Years ago a friend of mine had a 2 with the louvered bonnet. We always wondered if it was stock.
To tie this to another thread, we discovered that brake fluid shooting out of the top of the reservoir, when bleeding the brakes on a freshly painted TR, is not a good thing at all, when you have a louvered bonnet...

Tomster, not only was there a Triumph, but one with a louvered bonnet (but you had to look closely).
I had the louvered bonnet for a good 15+ years. I never had a brake fluid problem (I use silicone fluid as an extra precaution). I do remember driving the 3 to a national convention in Albany, however, when Bertha struck, flooding the battery tray but really causing no problem.

Hood up, brake res. cap open during bleed, fluid shot up thru louvres then running down hood towards windshield with a load of paint. Very blue air over and around car after that episode

My 54 TR2 (TS 5012) had two rows of louvers that follow the body lines down the bonnett. Much like the first pic posted.
I'm going to leave them as I like them, but now you got me wondering if they aren't factory???
I doubt it, but you never know.

I've never seen a factory louver job on a TR2. My TS1203LO doesn't hve any louvers...and I know TS1 and TS2 are louver-free.

The Triumph part is listed, maybe your car has had a swap to a later hood? Another possibility is that it was an option or the dealers did swaps. Nothing is certain as we know when it comes to LBC standards...........
