Loss of Power

Well, next winter I will make sure 1) full tank of gas and required amount of Sta-Bil. The Chicago area is one the high end of the fuel price scale as we have 10% ethanol which I suspect contributes to the problem.

Thanks all.

I use the StaBil in my 66 BJ8 all the time. Plus my 64.5 Mustang convertible all the time. Both cars don't get driven lots of miles so the gasoline can get a little old. Also use it in powered equipment that gets stored for a season. I have a 22-year old lawnmower, a 20-year old string trimmer and a 6 or 7-year old snow thrower and a 30-year old leaf blower. They always start right up after storage. Nothing like having archival power equipment eh?

Me too, stabil works ( my Honda mower is 23 years old)

I had some similar issues and the problem turned out to be a flaky coil. Seems that when it got warm, the coil would act up,

Yep, this is a strong possibility, I also had similar problem and it was a lousy connection on the low tension side between the coil and the dizzy, the wire into the terminal connection was shot and the car would start when cold but as soon as it warmed up it stopped.

I have also heard that a worn condenser in the dizzy could precipitate problems with the coil as well.

Just had another thaught, as soon as the car stops check the fuel flow to the carbs using an old soda bottle, if fuel still flows to the carbs, and if it is a fuel problem, check into the bottom of the float chambers for crud lying around, could just be dirt being dragged through the carbs and blocking the needles
