<span style="color: #990000">It's rainy today so I'm reading my new books.

My goodness !! I had no idea my oil pump also has
critical end float requirements.

I am now totally puzzled and boggled between crankshaft bearings and
trust washers and cam shaft end floats and rocker arm float.

But lots of really good info in those books. I'm
beginning to understand why my car broke down every 5 to 7 miles.
Too much duct tape and chewing gum as repair materials.

Crankshafts, and end float oh my.

Lesseee... crankshaft RPM in excess of 4,500... cam goin' half that, oil pump at cam speed, pushrods (how quaint!) hammerin' lifters and rocker arms slammin' valve stems...

It's ALL magic. Sacrifice a lobster to it and have dinner with a good wine...

...driving the infernal combustion buggy both to and from the fete...

Doc,

It can't ever get to 4,500RPM's if it's sitting torn apart for one reason or another.

Just an FYI. You just planted four more bad seeds.

Geez, Paul!

I didn't say: piston ring groove clearance or con rod small end bushing wear, or water pump vane-to-housing tolerance, or, or...

That thing will likely run for years more. Tractor engine. Regular oil changes and P.M. on it are about all he should worry over. Anything else is creating "what if" scenerios totally unsupported by facts as we know 'em.

Okayokay.... What I meant to convey is: the thing is BUILT like a tractor engine. Stout...

sheesh you guys are a tetchy lot.

:jester: :smirk:

You know you've reached the "big" time when you are clothes shopping and the sales clerk refers to you as "stout".

Amen, James!!!1!

It works for everything from exhaust system hangers to cheap welding rod!!
