Got my wife her convertable finally, a '71. I even feel guilty about what I paid for it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif, but it got my mechanic's blessing, as he told me about it.

https://photobucket.com/albums/v164/KLUTZP/71%20MGB/

It has new front fenders, new bonnet, newer Rad. new emergency brake cable, new king pins and bushings in the front suspension. Also with HS 4 carbs.
The only rust is where the splash guard is eaten on the bottom. I want to get new ones and get some protection in there. The interior is not too bad. It has the dash cover, but the dash still needs cosmetics. The steering wheel is yuckey. The car is being run on one batery, and it is connected Neg. ground, so if these were origionally Pos. Ground, it has been converted. The top is like new except the windows are a little dirty. Need to find out what I need to use on them to clear them up????
The engine needs a good cleanup, but again.. no rust. The car starts and idles nicely, but I noticed a slight sparking from a connection on the bottom of the Bosch coil. Maybe this has somthing to do with the brake lights staying on when the ignition is turned to on.
I let it run in the driveway for about 15 minutes; the oil pressure guage sat around 65 to 70. It definatly needs an oil change, plugs, wires.. GEE everything I can take out of the GT smiling smiley
This is going to give me a serious delema about continuing with the GT. I will have to decide soon, as both cars fit in the garage, but I will need room to work on the GT.
Anyway, What do youz all think? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Looks great! So, the question is, Will she let you drive it?

Mickey

OUTSTANDING PAUL! I'm soooooooooo jealous.

Nice...very nice.
I had a chance to buy a rubber bumper MGB a month ago (for pretty cheap) but I couldn't justify it financially (my older daughter just got married and that sort of broke the bank). The car is still available and I may go and try to chisel him down a bit more. You've got me thinking....

Klutz, you done good. really fine looking car. I'm sure the Boss will enjoy it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Very nice! looks good.
I believe 71s were neg ground but don't hold me to it.
And for the top, I use Brasso. It does a good job of cleaning the crud out of the plastic windows. It also works well to polish up dull plastic lenses.
Enjoy the new toy!

Negative ground started in about '68.

Congrats and good luck...looks like a winner if the price was a good as you think, which is all that matters /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif And you will want to keep the GT for the cooler days or when your wife takes "her" tourer and you get the itch. It is not hard to build onto a garage usually either...even if is is just a little alcove where the window is now, just wide enough for the nose of a B /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Looks great. Enjoy. Have fun. Hope the other half lets you have a go. Regards John. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Novus Plastic Polish works wonders. Comes in various levels of "grit" depending on how bad the scratches/clouding are.

Pretty! I hope it sounds as good as it looks (after you've given it a once-over).

Congrats!!

Congrats on the addition!!!!By the looks of your garage you should be able to get the 3 LBC's in? I just finished squeezing 4 cars(2 MGA's, MGTA, and the Jag) in my 2 car garage(with a pillar between the 2 doors) it wasn't fun and I still have some "adjustment's" to make tommorrow with the hydralic jack to give me enough room to get in and out of the Jag.

Heya Paul, play with the new toy today?

I was thinking earlier about how we're going to add yet another vehicle to our 2 car garage. My car, a boat, dahubby's pickup, and now 2 lbcs. Last winter boat went into storage, my Solara and Emma went in. Spring came, boat came home, Solara sat in driveway. I HATE her sitting out. This year I'm afraid carwithoutaname and Emma will be cozy in the garage and the Solara will be out again.

I'm trying to convince dahubby to knock the back wall out of the garage and extend it 10 feet or so, plenty of room for boat and B that way on one side, or 2 Bs in the winter and my car on the other side.

He's not going for that idea so well -- YET...

I have my eyes set on an additional 17 feet of usable garage space out the back of the garage, wich could be done. Does one "Need" a kitchen anyway?
My Mrs came home from work today and asked me, "How can we get the engine and the area it sits in to look like the ones in the book?" Was looking in Clausenger last night, but she never asked how "We" were going to do it when I spent 20 hours on my TR7 engine compartment this summer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Paul! You're brilliant! All I have to do is knock one teensy wall out of the kitchen and wallah, at least room for 2 LBCs.

Hey Paul, nice car! Unusual colour, what do you call that, red?
I used to put my TR6 sideways across the end of the garage, really close to the wall, the two other small cars could just fit! You'll have to measure to see if it will fit.

Nice looking car!
Simon.

Very cool. Would love it if the wife would let me get another B to go along with my TR6. Had a 67 B while in college. Very fun car except for the positive ground.
