I'll be putting it in in a few weeks, still have a couple more bits to get. It's a 1380 with a pretty warm cam, wedged and balanced crank, and forged pistons. Virtually everything is new. Only the block, crank, rods, head and oil pipe & banjo bolt were reused. All the hardware is new, too. The box is stock, but it's got a lightened flywheel.

Really excellent! My Spridget engine (1500) is being re-bored as we speak, so I'm a bit behind you in terms of progress.
I assume you're running the dished pistons because of street fuel....with a 1380 and a mild cam, it should be a torquey little beast. Have fun but don't forget to "wear protection" over that low, exposed sump!

BTW, roughly how much BHP would an engine prepared like yours put out?

vagt6, the recipe should yield about 100-110 BHP.

Looks very nice. I'm in the same process with a 1310cc S engine. It was in full race condition 20yrs ago and has been sitting in my garage. Torn down this winter and looks good though may need rebore/sleeve.Awaiting expert opinion. In race trim it produced 115-124hp with a compression ratio in the 11s. We used to get our 'commercially available'(race regs.) gas at the local airfield. It's going in a 1979 1000 body which is currently stripped to metal. Should be a good combination. We have to beef up the brakes/ suspension- Ideas anyone?

Barrie... I just moved from there back in the fall, lived there for about four years, lots of Mini's around town there! A guy named - I think - Louie is restoring one, he runs an automotive/electrical shop just off John St. west of Anne St., and I know of some other ones too. There's even an original Cooper that I know of, stored for years just south of town.

Other than on-line resources there are piles of club resources for Mini's around Ontario, as you may know. My club - www.geocities.com/motorcity/7967 - has about 500 members nationwide and into the States as well, almost 100 Mini members, and is in the middle of setting up a special "club members only" Mini group/website. There should be details about that at the above website, or else e-mail Elva Allen via the website.
