I love living in the middle of nowhere but it has its price. We don't have cable or DSL (we're lucky when we have ~electricity~) so satellite is our only broadband option.
The satellite modem failed 2 weeks ago. Now, I can't "calibrate" the replacement because the signal is too low. Apparently it's string enough to support a regular stream of error laden (& recovered) transmissions but not for "calibrating".
The problem is two tall trees that have bent enough to block access to good old "SATMAX-5", they tell me. I haven't determined if we own the trees or not. Either way, the solution is obvious.
Meanwhile, I'm using my Blackberry as a wireless modem.
Never had these problems in the old days.
