I love this thing!
It's a vintage Leyat Helica and I saw it on SpeedTV recently (it was at Goodwood). Propulsion is solely by propellor and steering operates on the rear wheel. I'd be right at home: it's a lot like my old taildragger Aeronca.
This car's been in the same family since new. No explaination about what happens to jaywalkers that step in front of it's whirling prop. "Viva Le Cuisnart!", I guess.
Note: I just past 2000 posts...I gotta get a life!

This car is often pictured in the British magazines, a very, er..., interesting car.

They did series produce it

(in a manner of speaking) but made very few.
 
Probably lots of 'flow through ventilation' too!
 
I beleive that's the only one still driving. Somewhere I have an issue of C&S that road tests the thing. Reminds me of something I saw on Gumby.

I suspect a good part of it is wood and fabric, I know I've read that the guard around the prop is wood too. That one was built in 1922, I think they built 30 of them total.
