TR4/4A Lever Shock Fluid Level

Hey,

Shocks are installed in the car - car on jack stands with suspension in full droop. I just pulled the top filler screw of the top of my lever shocks to check the level. Immediately a very clean oil began pouring out. I immediately replaced the screw.

Should I be concerned they are over filled? I've read the fluid needs air space to expand. As far as I know, the shocks have been like this for the past 14 years and never any leaks. Could this be because of the position of the supension?

The position of the suspension shouldn't matter. As one piston goes up, the other goes down, the level should stay much the same But if they've been OK, then I'd leave it be. Sounds like some air got worked into the lower half (below the pistons) while they were off the car.

If you want, you could take the arm loose and work it up and down a few times to work the air back to the top. But it will happen quickly enough when you start driving, so I wouldn't worry about it.
