Where do you run the other end of the rocker vent pipe? Your engine still impresses me, it looks like an option that should have been offered. I could have made the car live on a few more years until the cross flow head was developed. Now where does the other end of that pipe go?
Thanks in advance.

Don,
I goes through GoodParts' oil separator (seen under my master cylinder - drains the separated oil back into the sump) and back to the triple carbs, to be burned.

Bill

Bill - dumb question.
Can you turn the valve cover round? If it vented on the other side it would be a lot more convenient for me - the car is still away so I cant go outside to look for myself..

Alan,
I thought the same thing, unfortunately the three holes are offset to the right. (Look at Larry's [SCGuy] post somewhere above, it is real obvious on his photo) Would be cool to get ahold of whomever casts these things and tell them to sell you one before they drill out the vent hole. Or, just plug the hole on the right side with a nice smooth, polisheable aluminum plug and drill out the hole for the vent anywhere you want. I may yet do that.

Or, if you really want to get crazy, get a good aluminum welder to plug the hole with a slight overfill, and grind, sand, smooth and polish the plug. Voila, no more hole...

Bill

Bill, your idea has some merit.

I'd buy one unfinished and drill the hole at the firewall end. I'm thinking about mounting the catch tank on the bulkhead (battery is going into the trunk so I have lots of room). I can then run the drain down into where the fuel pump used to mount without too much trauma.

I found a cheap anodizing place so I can get it fixed up afterwards - I can have it hard anodized in black for not too much $$. It would fit with the intake manifold nicely then.

anything and everything, but I have a 1500

[/ QUOTE ]Well, you did say anything and everything. I just installed these babies (Mikuni carbs) on my Healey yesterday. Pretty excited, had to share.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif I like where this is going! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif

Thanks Mitch,
I believe this is the only Healey with triple Mikunis. A slow and sometimes painful journey it was to get here./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Lot of cool engines in this thread. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Yesterday, yesterday??? It just shows that everyone was wrong, Rome was built in a day.

Bill

Triumphs were built in a day -- they just take forty years to rust and fall apart.

Well mine is still being built in as is eveyones in one way or another. This is the engine before any of the mods mentioned earlier. Jet coated headers and intake manifold, new SS fan shrouding from Goodparts, engine block repaint and body shop will be repainting all yellow including the inside of the bonnet.

Greg,

Are those adapted Bike carbs ?

Hi Mitch,
Yes they are motorcycle carbs, HSR 42s. They have flat slides, no butterflies, oh and they have accelerator pumps./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif I think Rome was built faster.
