Lets see your engine bay

as Frank Zappa said: "There's a lot more of us ugly people out here so you pretty people better watch out!"

Not that I've got anything against a pretty engine - Some day.... Some day.... But I'm not afraid to show it and I'm certainly not afraid to drive it. It may be ugly but it's running like a scared rabbit right now /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Someday I hope to dirty my engine, I thought it was interesting that the 2 driver engine bays lookes so close to each other /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

This is my '75 TR6. Original except for Pertronix and battery.

I have to confess, this was the night I bought car 3 1/2 years ago still in the PO's garage. The PO gets to take credit for the esthetics. I've since added electonic ignition and a lot of oil splatter to the engine bay.

Hey John,
Is that stainless braided hoses going through your firewall for your heater? And is that blue wire your positive for your battery? Really bad combination in that the engine shaking will make braided hose cut through a wire sheath like the proverbial knife through butter, and result in a catastrophic meltdown. Sorry dude, I just had to tell you that. Otherwise, nice engine.

I had to reroute the braided hose for my oil cooler, it had started working on my harness. Caught it in time.

I would just go back to stock black hose.

(I actually put on my Designs-For-Vision glasses to see your pic better. I think we are the only two people on the forum that know what those are.)

Thanks Jim! My TR3 is cosmetically nice on the outside (see attached) and the inside (interior, not the engine), but the engine and transmission are all original. the carbs have had work, but the main part of the engine are the same as they were 45 years ago. Mine also is running strong. good oil pressure, temperature holding (I drove it for an hour in 98 degrees this weekend!). Why mess with a good thing. then again, these other engines look pretty sweet.....

I'll post mine with before and afters in the next three to four weeks. My new JetHot coated headers (super shiny-smooth with silver coating in and out) just arrived and the intake should be back in a few days. What was previously hidden on the block will be degreased at that time and the final leak at the timing cover will be repaired as well. After that and the powder coating of the radiator braces and crossmember support, it's off to the body shop to complete the under hood painting along with new weatherstrips. All new glass will be installed as well as removal and painting of windshield frame.
That will be it until fall when the new carpet and dash pads are done as well as gage cleaning.
EDIT: I found a before picture. The only one that I have. Got to get a digital camera.

Rob:
Where does the crankcase vent pipe coming out of the rockercover go? BTW, nice looking engine bay.

[/ QUOTE ]

The vent from the rocker (tappet) cover goes to the back of the K&N air filter. This gives "some" positive ventillation to the crankcase. I have a PCV valve to connect up that would tap into the brake booster vacuume line, but its still sitting on my workbench. And thanks for the complement.
Never thought I would be so fastidious under the bonnet of a car, but then I never had an engine bay that started off so clean.

Rob.

Well if nobody is going to put up a TR8, allow me.
