Yeah, it is. We're still in Clarksville, and won't get back over there until Mothers' Day weekend for the car show. Hate not being able to watch and get in their way!
 
That's rough -- mine went up quickly, and I was able to take the day off and bug them all day. I'll admit, it was fun to watch.

Still, you're getting close enough to being able to MOVE over there, so I imagine you'll be able to be patient enough -- or at least to be able to fake it. :grin:
 
Closer and closer, Bubba! First thing I did after moving into our hovel was to put quad outlets six feet apart and four feet high, all around the garage walls.
 
This is such an exciting time for you. I know how Doug and I felt. Didn't much enjoy the inspections and paperwork but in the end all was well. They even did a geographical impact inspection. Don't ask. All passed even the two ground level outlets. Guess they just didn't see them. What did surprise was that there was never mention of smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. We did include them (2). One of their concerns was the stairway going to the second level. They didn't like the size of the handrails. We accomodated them. Had the same problem with handrails in the house. They were too wide. Simply attached a closet rod for inspection passing and then took it off as soon as the inspector walked out the door. A little more complicated in the garage. Seems they didn't like it that the rails were only on one side, didn't like the way they were mounted, etc. I guess the county has a handrail fixation.Anyway, please post pictures as you will. I know all of us are in your building process. Maybe we aught to have a 'garage' thread of photos. Some of us are still in the" I can't believe this is my garage" stage.
 
I ma working through my garage now. While i did not get to build it, I did design one and am incorporating my ideas. Some thoughts:

1. Floor drains. PUT THEM IN.
2. What is your plan for heat? A Mr. Heater 75,000 BTU will heat that garage without trying hard. I have a Hot Dawg heater in the new garage and it is too loud.
3. Put in some ceiling fans. Even one will help move air, reduce heat costs and cool in the summer.
4. Pull a network cable into the building. Pull a coax cable as well.
5. Run airlines inside the walls before the sheet rock or peg board.
6. Sheet Rock or Peg Board, insulate first. I did NOT do that on my last one and it was a mistake.
7. Sink is a must. I just have the tub sink with hot & cold water with a hose connection as well. (softened so I can wash the cars ;) )
8. While you are plumbing.... I just bought a urinal I intend to instal (my wife is NOT happy).
9. What is your plan for the floors? Lots of options.

Thanks for the ideas, Randy. Not sure yet how I'll add heat. I have a couple of free-standing propane heaters and will see how they do. The garage will be insulated; hadn't thought of ceiling fans, but may check into that.

As for the floor, I'm still debating. Would like to epoxy coat, but not sure of the slip factor when damp. Still checking on options.

I'm heading over there Thursday for the British car show this weekend. Dale (Dart) and his wife are driving down; not sure if anyone else from here is attending, but we'll raise a glass for ya!

Hopefully will have a few pictures of the progress to post.
 
I got fed up of working on a cold dusty concrete floor so I invested in 180 'pre owned' reclaimed industrial floor tiles for ÂŁ25 (plus ÂŁ25 delivery!). They were a bit grubby but its for the garage and now much more pleasant to work on, plus I have about twenty spares to replace any that get too oiled up.
 
"Industrial floor tiles". Something made of rubber?

Just wondering what they're made of, and the surface (smooth, raised anti-slip, ribbed, etc.)
 
Effectively carpet tiles with a very thick rubber backing designed for 'heavy use'.
