Leaking like the Titanic!!!

Awesome take pictures!

KINKY!!

UPDATE ON THE TITANIC:

After numerous rains and lots of towel drying I finally went out got in the car and had my wife soak it with the hose. There are no leaks in the foot area underneath the dash on either side. All the water came in at the front corners of where the door glass goes up to the surrey hardtop. It was just like two funnels with the water coming in. Needless to say, the front seal on the surrey will have to be replaced with a better seal than the one it came with.

Hi Terry! As you know the Surrey top was only offered on the TR4, 4A and 250. I was wondering, does the windscreen on a TR6 have any differences in design that would prevent the Surrey Top from fitting properly? Do both the soft top and hard top leak?
I replaced all of the seals about 3 years ago. Got them from TRF, if memory serves.

Whats the big deal. My 69 restored Six leaks at exactly the same place. We carry two $3.00 K-mart pink plastic ponchos behind the seats for when we caught in the rain. After a coupla Thousand $$$ is parts and hundreds of hours labor-
the $3.00 ponchos make sound economic sense.

I have a friend that has a TR4A with the surrey top. After looking at his front windscreen, I think Triumph used the same one on the TR6. When I went to the surrey, I replaced the windshield capping with the one used on the TR4 that is used for surreys. It fit perfect, even the predrilled holes on the capping lined up with my windscreen. I purchased the surrey off of ebay and installed the seal that came with it. I will have to check the one that TRF sells and see if its any better. I noticed the water comes in right at the ends of the windscreen capping.

The plastic may work for you, but I don't want to replace rotted carpet every couple years. Of course if you don't have carpet in the car, then that's not a problem!

<span style="color: #990000">Terry, I have brand new Wilton wool carpet throughout the TR6. The previous owner kindly installed floor drains so the carpet would not rot. So far so good.

The floors on my TR3A weren't that bad when I bought my car. They had two large aluminum patches in the footwells that were tared in. When I removed the patchs, I could put my feet on the ground on either side. After I welded in new ones, I used the POR 15 on them top and bottom. The floors in my TR6 are in good shape. I also used the POR 15 on them. When it rains in, the water just sets until I towel it up. No rust so far. What kind of drains do you have in your floors? Do you have underfelt under the carpet?

I noticed on my Spitfire that the rainchannels down the sides of the windshield were smashed in at the bottom, which made the rain run over and down the inside of the frame, next to the door. I opened the channels back up, now the raind runs out onto the scuttle, and out the proper drain holes were it runs down and rusts the hood latches rather than the door hinges

might want to check that too.

Kind of makes you wonder why one of the wettest countries in the world made so many convertables and couldn't figure out how to do more than keep the dogs and cats out....most of the time.
