Leaking fuel pump connections

Just fyi....Mark Macy offers the ideal answer - the 1/4-5/16" stepped down nut and a special 2 piece ferrule....

That 2 piece ferrule looks like the pieces in the Swaglok connectors

Luke, thanks for posting that. Mine's not leaking now, (for the first rime in nearly 8 years), but still good to know!

Mmm could be, but Mark has it the step down fitting as well as the ferule all in stock for something like $11.00. Well worth the the convenience factor, plus we support a valuable resource for our hobby.

No , just making an observation.
Be a lot easier from Mark and that is the route I would tell people

Also, Hylomar-based gasket cement is gasoline-proof, which means that you can smear it all over the threads and the compression ferrule/nut interface for a good seal. Truly, this gasket cement is the gift of the gods for LBC owners. Expensive-ish but worth every penny. Works on valve cover gaskets, too!

Gasket cement (Hylomar or others)is useless on a compression fitting. :nonono:

I agree - anything like hylomar, or teflon tape is somewhat a bandaid in my opinion - it might work a while but for reliable operation a compression fitting is meant to seal by compression.

Ah man, I'm going through the weepy pump connections now. Just e-mailed Macy's Garage to see if they still offer this kit. I'll take back what I said about the TRF ferrules for now since I might be going the filing route on the inlet side. Hooray!

FWIW, I put a BUNA o-ring from a HF kit, between the outlet and the ferrule. Didn't have much hope it would work, but it hasn't wept for over a year. It cured a long-term gas weeping problem for me. No more gas smell in the garage, happily.

I know some will disagree, but Teflon tape/ribbon packing is great for a leaking ferrule. But you must wrap the ferrule, not the treads. This is a permanent fix.The Macys kit looks like half a Swagelok type fitting, precision face to meet the non existing matching seat.I am suprised they work that well. This observation is based on years as refinery mechanic.Your experience may differ.Obviously the correct shape ferrule is the best start.
