lead lights

ok we have struck lead! doing the front driving lights on the fender tops of a mk2. dose any one have
A. any wisdom to share?
B. photos of the process?
C. what type of lead do we need?

The leading process is explained thru a video at Eastwood.com. There is lead for filler and a new lead free replacement that can be used. Make sure a breathing mask is used. Or you can remove the lead with heat and redo with body filler ( as most of the shops do now days, as the art of lead filling is dwindling. If restoring to factory use the lead.

An old Jag body man told me years ago to take a torch and run it out (quickly) from the surface, then use smoothing, finish or spot filler. Lasts longer and better looking.

what should we use? oxyAcetylene or is map enough?

Just one of those hardware store type general purpose torches and gas canisters is plenty. Doesn't require really high heat to melt it out.

thanks. the leaves are starting to change here, winter is coming. Im slowly doing the whole car it seams. I found a cheap LHD dash so i guess I'm doing a LHD conversion
