Lazy Government Workers

Tinster said:
Hey Tony !!

You'll just have to see with your own eyes what a great
job this mayor has accomplished. I've driven thru parts
of Washington, DC that were so filthy I would not want my
shoes touching the sidewalks.

Believe me, if the workers were unhappy with this arrangement,
the Union reps would have a few hundred lawyers hacking away
at this project and there would be a general strike.

Wow!! I meant no harm and thought I was posting a human
interest story.

Any of you moderators can feel free to lock this thread or
delete it. I just thought it was really cool what a huge
difference one single mayor is making.

So far this has been a good thread - no politics, everything is nice & generic...no personal insults...good info

& I'm looking forward to my visit! I suuppose what this has pointed out to us is that things are different in the various places where we live & if the preponderance of citizens like how things are being done, who's to complain! I know Huntsville's program has cut down on litter & the city's a more beautiful place!

Dale - maybe "Lazy Government Workers" wasn't the best choice to give this topic?

Say - how 'bout some pics of those clean PR streets????

T.

The thread topic was an eye grabber- not an opinion!!

Here's a photo I had on my chip, Tom. It's typical of what the mayor
has accomplished. Routine maintenance of ANYTHING in the tropics is
much more time intensive than in the more temperate climes. We must
paint our entire house every three years (maximum) because of the
tropical environment, for example.

Edit: Our island politics is not the Stateside Republican/Democrat.
We have three political parties based upon our status:
Blue party: seeks statehood (49% of voters)
Red party: seeks to continue as a USA colony (49% of voters)
Green party: seeks to become independent ( 02% of voters)

& here I was thinking about having you show me some propertiers for winter living!

What would the streets look like without the mayor's program?

 No way, Dale...hehehehe...that's gotta be Africa or the Middle East somewhere!

Dale - the pics are great! Beautiful place. And the red/blue/green parties are interesting. Surprising the statehood vs non-statehood are so close.

Tony - that last picture could be just about any large USA city, unfortunately.

argh.

"This is the tropics guys! The gov't owns the streets,
sidewalks and right-of-way setbacks. Algae covers the
sidewalks within a month, grass and weeds grow overnight,
the trade winds blow in all kinds of litter and trash."

Ah yes, Paradise!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to college to get an MBA so that I can get a nice, cushy, mind-numbing desk job so that I'll never have to go outside again.

:iagree:

Uni worked out just fine for me. I did outside jobs back then to pay for it all. Now I get to watch other people struggle...
