Sorry everyone, got careless and accidently posted this in The Pub. Probably better for it to be here.

Hey gang,

I've detailed the issues I've had with my MGB in other posts. Got the head and new head gasket installed a little over a week ago, along with the rodded and repaired radiator. Retorqued the head studs this morning. Tightened hose clamps. Drove the car to NOT, and did valve clearance adjustment, then did a compression check. Here are the results, tested twice:

#1 155 155

#2 146 150

#3 156 155

#4 149 149

I'm feeling pretty optimistic, but would like to hear from the forum as well. Please let me know what you think.

Thank you,
-Bill

Those numbers look good to me, Bill.

Now get out and enjoy it!

Mickey X2, Enjoy the car and give it another valve adjustment and tune check in 5,000Miles. You should be pretty set and having fun and then remember to tune and change oil regularly. Fall for storage and spring for the summer. Congrats on a job well done!

The thing that irritates me is getting the carbs tuned. I worked on that this afternoon after doing all that other stuff. Got them balanced according to the Carbalancer, mixture seemed ok, and idle was typical 4-cyl idle between 800 and 900 RPM. Took it on a test drive and all seemed well. Took it to dinner a little ways from home, and it was the same. Got it home and it sounded a little chuggy and smelled rich. Irritating I tell ya grrrrr!

That was the first all-British show I ever went to. Before then, I didn't know there were enough Brit cars around to put something like that together. On top of that, the club in my area throws a show every year.

But the Townsend show is always nice. My car's not show quality by any means, but we might drive up and check it out. Thanks for the reminder.
