TR2/3/3A Last TR3 ?of the day - fountain of brake fluid

Could be air anywhere in the lines. You are having to move more fluid into the lines to compress the air and it expands and drives the increased amount of fluid back into the master cylinder when you let the brake pedal return upwards.
 
Or, could be a stuck caliper, or badly misadjusted rear brakes.

Just the gasket missing will likely cause some seepage around the cap, though.
