Identification of this language, anyone have a clue? Found on the outside of the doors of a MG TD just pulled out of a barn after 40 years. PJ

It's Hebrew

Elliot, Do you know how to read it? Curious why it was printed on each side of the doors on the TD. Be interesting to know. PJ

Hebrew is read right to left. I'm pretty sure the last word is Shalom which has multiple meanings, but it is often used as "peace". https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shalom
Let me see if I can translate it or show it to one of my friends.

Moses might be a previous owner :rolleye:

So my son comes up to me the other day and says Dad, how does Moses make tea? Hebrews it!

Well being fully incomprehensible in English and Hebrew would make me the resident expert ☺

The first word doesn't actually mean anything since it isn't a word, at least not one my wife or I could figure out what it was. It would be read "Rayah" (it could be a woman's name) the next two words are "full" and "peace"

It also seems like someone translated it with a dictionary.

Maybe there was someone named Rayah who was very peaceful? Why it would be on the outside of the doors is anyone's guess.

And Rayah seems to mean "Darling" at least in Biblical usage. (or "friend") (I googled that BTW)

Rayah could be some varient of friend or darling. in fact my youngest daughter is named Reut where the h at the end becomes a t (common in conjugating) and would basically translate as friendship.

So someone basically wrote "friendship full of peace" in somewhat tortured Hebrew on the car door. Sounds about right for an LBC

(Friendship full of peace), Now that would seem quite appropriate. I hope past ownership can be found, Very interesting. PJ

close, friendship, full of pieces more likely. Or even friendship, fall off pieces.

Ok, the translation my sister gave me (who is pretty fluent in Hebrew) is "We can see peace"

Similar words but different roots (Hebrew words usually are based on three letter roots) seeing is ראה friendship would be רעה. In modern Hebrew they are pronounced similarly. In the way past and Yemeni Jews still strongly differentiate these letters.

Maybe it's an RIP after the car died 40 yrs ago
Maybe the cars haunted and that's a prayer to keep the spirit(s) quiet
Maybe it's to keep the bad spirit(s) OUT of the car
Maybe I should go easier on the Scotch, and stop watching bad horror movies :rolleye:
