Totally hijacking this thread now... the subject of period-correct stickers (and other accessories) has been on my mind lately.
I don't believe that stickers "must" be of the exact same year as the car, as long as they don't predate the car or are of a totally different era. For example, a 1939 domestic car could reasonably have a rationing sticker on the windshield, since it would have been someone's car during the war years. OTOH, a 1948 certainly shouldn't, since it wasn't even built until well after the treaties were signed.
By my logic, if that wagon is indeed a 1986, the Dukakis sticker would be period-correct. If it's a 1990, then it's just silly.
But would it be silly for a 1954 LBC to have a badge from Queen Elizabeth's coronation? The badge would have been to signify that you experienced it, not to advertise that it was upcoming. "I was there 2 years ago" -- a bit like a sticker from a trip to the Grand Canyon in 2019. Reasonable?
