Kurt Tanner 100-4 on ebay

It is what it is. Anybody spending north of $60K should make sure they know what it is they are buying. Furthermore Mr Tanner would only be shooting himself in the foot to attempt to sell a car under false pretenses.

Interesting. Makes one wonder what happened.

Wow, didn't sell and barely broke $40K. Maybe worth more if it was left a stock BN2?
I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't see this car at the auctions in Scottsdale this January. Kurt usually does pretty well in that venue.

My thoughts exactly (but it might be painted an Aston Martin color).

I asked Tanner during his 1st auction attempt to sell this car if he restored it. Tanner confirmed that he didn't, car was purchased from previous owner recently in this condition. As original post states, car was for sale at the Aug/2011 All British Meet in Seattle for ~$40k, by previous owner

$40K is about it for a non-M 4 cylinder Healey on ebay unless it's a pristine pretty fresh restoration, then it <span style="font-style: italic">might</span> go up to the mid 50's.

IMO, this is the appropriate way to advertise a LeMans modified 100:

Agree 100%. Very thorough ad with a lot of good pictures now that they added pictures of the underside.

Finally, someone got it spot on. I wish I had room for it......and an extra 65K
Would you really give $65K for this car? Normally I don't shoot holes in other guys cars because I truly believe each should make his (or her) car the way they want it, but this is a dealer trying to get close to top dollar so I will make an exception

- first, what's with all these BN2s that have four BN1 fenders on them? I know someone will give the "some early BN2s had BN1 fenders" lecture but c'mon. This is the second one I've looked at for sale in the last month that's been this way. The other one was a higher end car also (trying to get close to $60K for it).
- second, door fit and particularly the swage line in back. Looks like they already got shims under the lower door hinges, so there's probably not much more one can do at this point. I realize a lot of cars are like this and it's common, but again on a top dollar machine?
- third, those could be the worst seat backs I've ever seen. If you're going to use contrasting piping you really should have a pro do it. This car would make a good ad for the guy at Heritage in the "not this" section.
- and on...no body tag and bogus VIN tag?? 140mph speedo re-screen looks awful (wrong font, eh?). Farm and Fleet Widetrack radials on a $65,000 car? Also, red with chrome wires and loaded up badge bar is waay overdone on Healeys, IMO. Could go on but I would assume hardly anyone reading this is still awake.

The performance stuff is okay like the DW head and rockers and other obvious engine mods but there is so much other going on like the disk brakes, tube shock conversion, anti-roll bars that I think it's too much. <span style="font-weight: bold">This is just my opinion</span> but I think a few performance and modern drivability mods are good, but once that list starts getting really long (like on this car) it's actually starts hurting the value. I think a guy would be better off with Tanner's car for similar money.

OH i HAVE ODDLES OF ROOM IT IS THAT 65k THAT PUTS ME OUT.--Keo ke----

I see the all red "Motoexotica" car got bid up to $45,100 this time through on ebay. The magic top number for 4 cylinder Healeys on evilbay has been $40,100 for the last couple months so it went well over that. If they actually want to sell the car there, they should take that money and run as that's as good as they're ever going to do there. ebay is about the worst place to sell these cars.

~This One~ (see below) is supposed to be real.

I know much less about the history of these cars than most of you guys (although I *have* met Gerry Coker), but this one seems to be the real deal.

<span style="font-style: italic">Sidebar</span>: In 1969, as a starving college student, a friend offered me a dreadful BN2 for $300. I turned it down and bought an even worse TR3 for $200.

I have not called on this 100M but believe I did see it advertised in Sports Car Market for $150,000 which would be the most expensive asking price for one I recall. Of course I could be having a senior moment and it's not that much but know it was north of 100k.
Regards,
Mike

Not 'asking price,' but a red/black 100M--mostly original, with some slight flaws--went for $215K at an estate auction a few years ago (at the height of the the collector car 'bubble').

This one (the white/black one) looks like a nice car but I spotted a couple 'irregularities.' And, who would drill two holes in the fascia just to mount a '100M Registry' plaque???

It's disappointing to see Tanner use the "M" designation in the banner when from the text of the ad it is clear that the car has simply been upped to Le Mans specs during the restoration.

Yes, very nice. The leather covered dash must be the in thing these days, but hey, at least he didn't paint the car Ferarri or Viper red then put chrome wires and a badge bar on it

I kind of wonder why, given this car is a genuine "M" model, that they didn't cap the exhaust cutout in the pass side rear outrigger when they replaced it to make it look correct? Apparently, Kilmartin no longer makes the correct 4 cylinder one so you have to use the 6 cylinder one. The body guy who is restoring my car offered to do it, said it would only take an hour or so and you'd never be able to tell. I told him not to screw with it since it's just a regular 100-4 driver.

Later,
Walt

p.s. I got kind of excited when I read it had a 100S head on it, then scolled down to the pics and uh...no.
