Torn Meniscus should be not really that big a deal.
Out here in the middle of the Pacific, where the medical community operations is usually lagging behind the mainland, I had my left knee done arthoscopically a few months back. Torn on both the inside and outside. I thought, because of the pain before the surgery, that I had ACL problem.
They pumped the knee up and punctured two holes, on on the inside and one on the outside. Removed the torn meniscus, trimmed the rough edges, packed me in ice, woke me up and sent me home. Hopped around for a couple of days, hobbled for about a week. Now It's better than it's been for years. If I had the time I'd probably get back into Scottish Country Dancing, that's how good the job is.
So, you should be doing fine, ok, fully operational in a couple of months.
