God I hate this.
Well I’ve been sitting on this one for a long time and I guess there’s no denying it anymore.
Some of you might remember when I got custody of my 16 year old son at the beginning of last year. Well I never mentioned this but Jackie (my common law wife – never married) of 14 plus years, was really upset about the situation and within a month of my son moving in with us – Matt & I moved out at Jackie’s request. To be close we took an apartment a few miles away and during the week we'd stayed there and then spend the weekends at the house with Jackie & the girls.
On the weekdays after I got Matt moving for school in the morning, I’d go over to the house to help Jackie get the girls off to school before going to work. She'd take one and I'd take the other alternating back & forth. At the end of the day, I’d pick up one of the girls and take them to the apartment for a little while or take them back to the house and wait for Jackie to get home with the other young'n in tow. Occasionally we’d all (Matt too) do dinner during the week, but my son & I would almost always return to the apartment.
As uncomfortable and mind numbing as this all was I was sucking it up in an effort to stay with my wife & daughters and provide as stable an enviorment for my son as I could. This was our life for the last 14 months.
Well fast forward. Can’t say I didn’t see it coming but Jackie finally broke down last week & informed me one night that she can’t do it anymore and asked (check that - demanded) that it was over.
Jackie has agreed to joint custody of the girls, but my apartment is just a small two bedroom with little or no amenities for a teenager and two little girls. So I find myself in the market again for something bigger. For now I’m going to go with a rental (house, condo or the like) with three or four bedrooms, a yard and a two car garage.
So I guess my question(s) is - when is the best time for new listings of rental property in the classifieds. I was told the Sunday classifieds listings are best & the norm. But I would think that most folks would like to go to viewings on Saturday. So why wouldn’t Fridays be the best?
I've been out of the loop in this for a while is there anything I should know about renting a house or condo that is different than renting an appartment?
