[size:14pt][/size]Hi All

I think we should have a
"spot the sports car" contest ,

So this seems like a good weekend to start....

First they must be driving , driving will include parked but driven there in the last few hours , like a store or resturant.

they cannot be at a car event because thats not really fair to others , so do not go to cars and coffee and start counting

British sports cars are first
but also older European sports car
or even Datsun 1600-2000, 240-260Zs

any year up thru the late 70s ,
UNLESS its something exotic like a Ferrari , Lotus etc

Double points if you are driving your own LBC when you see them....

OK.....any other "rules" I forgot ?

What do you win ?

BRAGGIN rights till we do it again

Photos would be great so throw your camera in the car

Have Fun

I'll keep my cell handy! Do you get a triple car score if you can send in a pic for each car you spot?! Or maybe you get the year in points - ie 74 TR6 is 74 pts.

OK, I just saw three!

oh wait...they're all in my backyard

Hey.....this is a work in progress......

pics just make us believe you more
and no , looking in your own backyard does not count !

but really it would be interesting to see how many cars are being driven on weekends , very few are daily drivers,

We may need to have a special contest for the Monterey Historics week , but we will need extra pencils and paper to write them all down .....

Hopefully, when the shop owner drives over tomorrow so I can pick up Fagin at the garage, he will drive one of his Jags or AH's since he is not really open, just letting me pick up the car...

I think British Cars on Independence Day are some sort of symbol...

IRL at Watkins this weekend. bound to be lots of goodies toolin round the backroads..... It all depends on how much I get out this weekend.

I'm sittin on the front porch, and I see one british and one italian... but they haven't been run in a while. :smirk:

OK, but I am going to an Independence Day classic sports car restoration shop next to the fireworks display covered dish supper on Friday and the Antique Automobile Association annual picnic on Sunday. Looks like the rules prohibit counting cars at either event! I may have to go out of my way to drive by the house with the guy who has two Fiat 124s and the old Porsche 911. I do have a Porsche 928 across the street, but I think it's too new and not exotic enough to count.

Well if you saw them driving on the road I guess you would not be really sure if they were going to that event

count what you want , rules are made to be.....ahhh abused !
but you get the idea ,

Lets just see whats out there......

I'm gonna win. Tomorrow I'm leading an All-British car run in Malibu. We're then driving on several of the most popular sports car roads in the country. Saturday I'm going to a vintage MG event that should have 150 or so pre-war and early post-war M.G.s.

I'll abstain out of fairness.

That's why we call it the Independence Run!

Is there a special prize if someone spots
the only red, 1969 TR6 within a 1200 mile radius?

Edit: 5:00 PM- We are going to attempt to street
the Crypt Car and make the 25 mile r/t run to the Caracol biker
bar...... without another breakdown!!

EDIT: 7:30 PM - Total failure- all efforts to start the Beast
failed. Car dead in garage. Ran just great yesterday.

Exotics speedsters also count, huh? GREAT!!

hmmm - kinda tough to scout out LBC's when it's cool and wet outside (southern New England). Lots of cancellations today.

Ok fine. I'm up to at least 100 already. 20 of them were on our run this morning. The rest were seen on the road.

What did I win?

Has anyone noticed the irony of celebrating things British on the day on which we celebrate our independence FROM the British? :smirk:
