On This Day 66 Years Ago (28th Sept 1949) The stunning Jowett Jupiter, the Bradford company’s only sports car, first appeared at the London Motor Show, having been designed in 4 months by the famous Austrian engineer Dr Robert Eberan von Eberhorst and Jowett’s in-house body stylist Reg Korner. Two complete Jupiters were on the road in March 1950. The third Jupiter raced at Le Mans in June 1950 and won its class. The first production batch of five cars was built in October 1950, and the last Jupiter left the factory in November 1954.

Was an interesting car, both from a looks and engineering standpoint. 2542724.jpg

It is pretty rough but very cool nonetheless, I am a bit envious.

Marvin - what did your wife say about your latest purchase, hmmn?
I know what mine would say.
Tell her how much money you'll be making when you sell it.
Good luck with the project. I hope you can find parts. They were very interesting cars. A few people raced them back in the '50s.

My wife has no idea or could care less about my car collection as long as its doen't interfere with her shopping, lol. I'm already on the hunt for parts. Found a pair of bonnet hinges last night for $25. Thinking about doing a V8 since those engine are impossible to find. Don't you know the street rod guys are going to scratch their heads on this one.

I have a 472 Caddy laying around.

What about a Jag or even a Supra inline 6? From what I recall of the one or two I have seen, they are not very wide engine bays.

Could a Porsche 4 or 6 work? Maybe you'd have to reverse something. It would at least be true to the flat-4 Jowett engine.

How about an old air cooled Subaru flat-four engine. Would match era and may be easier to find, let alone almost look right.
