Jet Hot???

So what can you guys tell me about Jet Hot????

I think I want a header done that has just a bit of rust.

Kurt.

I don't know anything about Jet Hot but I just had my headers done with Cerakote. They were done locally by a powder coating company that had just powder coated my top bows and tonneau bar. There was a lot of smoke when I first started my engine but after a couple of minutes it was gone. FYI it cost me $150 to have them done. They sandblasted my headers first as I had them on the car since shortly after I bought it back in 1962.

I've Jet Hot coated headers on a few occasions, both on brand new products and used ones. They blast and coat both inside and outside. I've always been happy with their results and turns around time. The only caveat is that the coating will not hide any pitting from rust etc., but should be fine if you have solid material.

OK, Gerard can I expect about the same price as Nelson payed? Header just has a bit of surface rust mainly on the inside of the tubes. New, just sat around for a while. Are the claims I've heard accurate? IE:Cuts down on heat in the engine compartment and makes he header last??
I was thinking exhaust wrap tape till someone pointed out short header life. I would assume the tape would keep engine compartment temps lower than ceramic coat.

I can't give you a testimonial as to longevity, as I haven't used any of them long enough to say. Reducing engine temp and increased life seems to be well documented though. I paid $150 (or less) to do a Morris Minor Maniflow header (see pix for size comparison), which is much larger than the Sprite one, so I would think so, but it's been a while. You can call them and they will give you a firm quote. The one in the vehicle is a Jet Hot coated one.

I had the header on the Tunebug done with Jet Hot. It certainly looked really nice. Steve would have to chime in with how well it's held up over the last few years since I sold it.

Thanks, guy's....I guess I'll spring for it.

Hi Kurt, I had my headers done inside and out. That was near 10 years ago and they still look good. I have never had a heat problem even traveling long drives on interstate in 100+ temp days.

And they look gorgeous. I've always been a fan of white so that's what I'm going for. Waiting on "Jet Hot" to get back to me.

Kurt.

Look's like both options are right at $300 so I'm thinking on this. Month's of waiting on the Swain.

I had mine Jet coated and they look good. The heat is less, but could be because of the other extra insulation and heat fiberboard I put under the car. I think there are other companies that do the same job locally. I did ship mine to LA to get Jet Hot, but found a company local after that.

Well, the Swain's main claim is best heat reduction and I like the sound of that but they have the longer lead time and neither are cheap.

Kurt.
